Stan Getzler, Chairman
Stan is entering his fifth season in minor league baseball. He is the Chairman of the Staten Island Yankees and has held this capacity since January of 1999. Stan began his involvement in minor league baseball in February 1996 when he, his wife Phyllis and his son Josh bought the Watertown Indians. After running the team for three years in Watertown, he decided to move the team to Staten Island, NY. Before involving himself in baseball, Stan had worked 25 years on the New York Stock Exchange. He started off as a NYSE Clerk for DeCoppet & Doremus in 1968 and in 1969 he became an Associate Odd Lot Broker. From 1970-1993, he ran S. Getzler Securities Inc. as a two dollar broker. Prior to his involvement in the securities industry, Stan worked for and eventually became CEO for the family auto body building firm, Victor Auto Service. He worked in the family business from 1953-1969. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950-52 in the Counter Intelligence Core as a Special Agent. He held the rank of Corporal when he left the service. Stan earned his BS in Administration from New York University in 1949. He graduated from Bronx High School of Science.
Josh Getzler, Chief Operating Officer
Josh, 32, is entering his fifth season in minor league baseball. He is the Staten Island Yankees Chief Operating Officer and has served in this capacity since January 1999. As the C.O.O he manages the organizations day-to-day operations. From February 1996 through September 1998 Josh served as Vice President for the Watertown Indians (Single-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians). He received his MBA from the Columbia Business School in 1995. After receiving his BA in Creative Writing and graduating Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990, he served as an editor at Harcourt Brace and Co. for 2 ½ years. He graduated from Horace Mann High School (Riverdale, NY) in 1986. Josh resides on the Upper West Side in Manhattan with his wife Amanda Newman; their son, Joe; and Zoe the Wonder Dog.
Jeff Dumas, General Manager
Jeff, 36, joined the Staten Island Yankees in January of 1999, after spending five years with the Watertown Indians. Jeff enters his 15th season in minor league baseball. He got his start with the Albany-Colonie Yankees in 1986. He spent his longest tenure with the St. Petersburg Cardinals (Single-A, Florida State League), working for the Cardinals for seven years. A native of Ballston Spa, New York, Jeff earned his BS in Sports Management at Florida Southern College. Jeff resides in Staten Island with his wife Dawn and their two daughters Samantha and Cassandra. Jeff enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
Jane Rogers, Special Assistant to the General Manager
Jane enters her second year in minor league baseball. The 44-year-old Staten Island resident served as Office Manager for Quinns Overhead Garage Doors for three years prior to joining the SI Yanks. Jane and her husband, Mike, have two children Julie (18) and Matthew (16) and reside in Great Kills. Jane enjoys spending time with her family and co-workers outside of the office. Jane was promoted to Special Assistant to the G.M. during the off-season. She continues to serve as the SI Yanks Office Manager.
John Davison, Director of Tickets
John, 20, is entering his fourth season in minor league baseball and his second in a full-time position. While still attending high school in 1997, John started with the Watertown Indians as a ticket seller and scoreboard operator. He spent the 1998 season as an intern. John is currently a sophomore at St. Johns University (Staten Island Campus) and is majoring in Sports Management. The Cleveland, OH native is a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan.
Matt Kanarick, Director of Marketing and Promotions
Matt is entering his second full season in minor league baseball. He serves as the teams Director of Marketing and Promotions and is the Public Address Announcer during the season. Matt was born in El Paso, TX on April 12, 1976. He made ANDY BROWN!!! A household name during the SI Yanks inaugural season. Prior to joining the SI Yanks front office, Matt, was a Sales Consultant at Island Ford for three years. Matt graduated from Tottenville High School in 1994. Matt is a member of the Staten Island Rotary Club. During the off-season he enjoys attending New York Rangers games, as a season ticket holder. He also enjoys being a DJ for his entertainment company, Dynamite Party Productions. In addition, he enjoys music, going out with his friends, being the life of the party, and spending time with his girlfriend Suzanne.
Steve Lenox, Director of Public Relations and Broadcasting —
Steve begins his fourth season in minor league baseball and his first with the Staten Island Yankees. The Shelter Island, NY native will serve as the SI Yanks Director of Public Relations and serve as the teams play-by-play announcer for the 2000 season. Steve graduated from SUNY Brockport in May of 1997 with a degree in Communications in Broadcasting and minors in Sports Coaching and History. He spent two seasons with the Batavia Muckdogs (1997, 1998) as the radio play-by-play voice of the Muckdogs, and serving as the Assistant General Manger of Media and Public Relations in 1998. Steve spent the 1999 season as part of the Carolina League Champion Wilmington Blue Rocks broadcast team.
Ruth Rizzo, Bookkeeper
Ruth was born in Stuttgart, West Germany, Her parents were both in the Army. She spent her first six years in a small trucking town in Indiana, outside of Chicago. She then moved to Brooklyn with her family. She excelled in her studies and graduated 6th grade (with honors). After that she attended McKinley Junior High School and Fort Hamilton High School. In Fort Hamilton, she was lettered for her participation on the Math Team. She was most likely the F.H.H.S. record holder for absences with promotions. She attended Hunter College and continued her studies in Math, Accounting & Computer Science. Since she was undecided on a major at the end of 2 ½ years, she dropped out. Ruth and her husband, Jim, have been married for seventeen years. They have a daughter, Renee, (12) who in entering eighth grade at St Patricks School. Ruth spends her time off chauffeuring Renee to softball, basketball, and dance. While Ruth waits for Renee, she crochets. Ruth and her entire family (including her brothers) are major New York Mets fans. Her stepfather is a Yankees fan, so her family loves to abuse and harass him. Ruth loves her job with the SI Yanks. Her one regret is that she rarely got to see any of the games last year.
Jennifer Fontanez, Concessions/Merchandise Manager
Jennifer is a native of Brooklyn, NY. She moved to Staten Island when she was 16 and graduated from New Dorp High School in 1989. Jen enjoys spending her free time going to the movies and spending time with her mother in the Poconos. Her and her husband, Carmelo, reside on Staten Island.
Sean Mantucca, Head Groundskeeper
Sean has just completed his fifth season in professional baseball and his second with the Staten Island Yankees. Sean got his start in groundskeeping in 1996 with the Milwaukee Brewers. Originally from Libertyville, IL, Sean earned his B.S. in Urban Horticulture at Arizona State University and went on to work for the Arizona Diamondbacks in their inaugural season before moving to Staten Island in 1999.
Mary Anne Semon, Advertising Sales Consultant
Mary Anne made a resolution for her 40th birthday – find a job that would be FUN! Mary Anne brings extensive advertising sales experience to the Staten Island Yankees’ organization, including stints with the Staten Island Advance and Harper’s Magazine as a former Vice President, Advertising Director. A ten-year resident of Staten Island, Mary Anne resides near the Zoo with her husband, Donald, and three children, Donald Charles (10), Margaret Catherine (6), and Robert James (4). To avoid housework, Mary Anne’s hobbies include involvement in many school and church activities at Blessed Sacrament.
