New York – The YES Network announced today that David Cone will join the YES broadcasting team. He will take on numerous roles for YES, with broadcasting five Staten Island Yankee games as part of his duties.
“We are proud and delighted to have David Cone as the newest member of the YES team,” said YES CEO and Chairman Leo Hindery. “We know our viewers will enjoy him in the booth as much as they did when he was on the mound.”
Cone will be in the booth at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George for the July 7, 8, and 25th games against the Brooklyn Cyclones, as well as the August 5th game against the Williamsport Crosscutters and the August 25th game against the New Jersey Cardinals.
Cone will also serve as a studio analyst for selected pre-and post-game shows on YES. He will partner with Paul O’Neill on June 28th for the pre-and post-game shows for the Yankees-Mets game. In addition, it was announced by WCBS-TV that Cone would join Michael Kay and Jim Kaat as the third man in the booth for the CBS 2 broadcast of the Yankees-Mets game on June 14th.
A 15-year Major League veteran, Cone went 193-123 in his career, including a 64-40 mark with the New York Yankees. He pitched for the Yankees from 1995-2000, winning four World Series titles with New York.
“I’ve watched the Yankees on YES and I’m really excited and thrilled to be a part of the network, and thankful to be given the opportunity to ease into the broadcast side of baseball,” Cone said.
“I was delighted to hear that David cone will be in the booth for us this season,” said Staten Island Yankees’ Chief Operating Officer Josh Getzler. “Our fans will appreciate his expertise, and it reaffirms our place in the Yankee organization.”
The Staten Island Yankees are the single-A affiliate of the 26-time World Champion New York Yankees. They are members of the New York-Penn League, a short-season A league.
