YANKEES CONTINUE TO ROLL, DEFEAT LOWELL

Staten Island wins season-high fourth straight

Staten Island, NY v The Staten Island Yankees continued their winning ways at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George, defeating the Lowell Spinners (Red Sox), 4-2, tonight.  The win improves the Yankees to 9-6 on the season, while the Spinners drop their record to 5-12.

The Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-out RBI single by Juan Camacho.  Lowell knotted the score at one in the top of the third before the Yankees took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth.

Camacho singled for the second time that night to lead off the fourth.  Jeff Segar followed with a single, moving Camacho to third.  Jeff Christensen walked to load the bases with none out.  After Deivi Mendez struck out, Omir Santos lifted the ball to shallow right field, scoring Camacho.  Christensen stole second, before Kevin Thompson drove in the eventual game-winners with a two-RBI single to centerfield, scoring Segar and Christensen.

Brian Strelitz earned his second victory of the season, pitching one-and a third innings of perfect baseball, striking out one.
