Eric Verbryke delivered a two-out single to right field, scoring Gabe Lopez and Ferdin Tejeda to put the Yankees ahead, 3-1, and defeat the Renegades for the first time this season.
This was the third time in the last four games that the Yankees have gone into extra frames. They are now 3-1 in extra innings.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the eighth when
Hudson Valley plated the first run of the game. With two out in the top of the ninth, Matt Mamula delivered an RBI single to score Scott McClanahan.
Josh Neitz pitched a scoreless ninth to bring the game into extra innings.
In the top of the tenth with one out, Hector Zamora and Tejeda drew back to back walks. Zamora was out at third attempting a double steal for the second out of the inning. Lopez then drew a walk to put runners at first and second. A wild pitch moved up the runners before McClanahan walked to load the bases. Verbryke then provided the go-ahead runs with a single to right.
Matt Brumit pitched a perfect 10th, striking out two of the three batters he faced, for his sixth save of the season.
