Statn Island Yankees and WSIA Reach Agreement for Radio Broadcasts

[Staten Island, NY] - The Staten Island Yankees announced to day that they have reached agreement with WSIA 88.9FM to broadcast the remainder of the 2003 season’s games on the station.

WSIA, which is the student-run radio station of the College of Staten Island, has been the Baby Bombers’ radio home since the team moved to Staten Island in 1999. WSIA will broadcast all of the Staten Island Yankees’ games, both home and away.

“We are very happy to make this announcement,” said Staten Island Yankees Chief Operating Officer Josh Getzler. “Every baseball team needs a radio home, and I hope that we are never without radio for any time in the future. Our fans were unhappy with the lack of a broadcast, and we are very pleased to be able to satisfy them.”

The first game to be broadcast will be from home against the New Jersey Cardinals on July 3rd at 7:15 p.m.
